Searching for unique Halloween costume ideas? You’re in the right place. Here are my costume ideas to be the chicest fashionista this October.
Kate Moss for Martine Sitbon S/S93
I present to you your new favourite runway look. How elegant and truly 90s is this entire image? The oversized collar, the cigarette holder, the tulle… wickedly chic. Also, very easy to recreate out of items you probably already have in the corner of your wardrobe.
Naomi Campbell tripping over walking for Vivienne Westwood in 1993
An iconic moment in fashion history and probably the most memorable runway slip. Who wouldn’t trip up in 12inch high heels? In fact it, the fall gathered so much positive press, that designers were actually asking Naomi Campbell to trip up for them. The history of this moment aside, the look itself is beautiful and fun. If you were to recreate it, other fashion souls are bound to recognise it.
The Chanel Runway Crasher from the S/S20 show
Surely you remember the moment Marie Benoliel crashed the Chanel show back in 2019? This moment is very easy to recreate costume wise, and gets extra points for the humour of it. You can even do this as a duo costume with your best friend and have one of you as Gigi Hadid escorting the crasher off the runway. Iconic.
Gisele’s polaroid dress from Esquire Magazine in 2004
Gisele wearing a dress made entirely out of polaroids of herself is one of my favourite fashion moments, ever. The practicalities of recreating this are a little more on the complex side. That being said, there’s plenty of options. Will the photos be of yourself? Will they be of Gisele? Will they be your favourite memes? Plenty of creative freedom.
Laetitia Casta for YSL Haute Couture 1999
This look has been engrained into my mind ever since I first saw it a few years back. It is absolutely magical. Hailey Bieber actually recreated this look for her Halloween costume back in 2022, and it was just as incredible as I imagined it to be. Find yourself some tulle and fake flowers and you’re half way there.
Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg, but hopefully this posts gets your ideas flowing.
Happy Halloween,
